The Pooh Has Hit The Fan

Its been about a week since my last post. But its been very difficult to write about something that isn't worth writing about. So what I am going to do is simply post everything interesting I have been able to come across during the past few days. Oh, in case you didn't hear, the Browns let the door hit the ass of general manager George Kokinis on his way out. AFC North Stock Watch Adam Schefter talks about Cleveland getting rid of GM George Kokinis and what this means for Eric Mangini ( video ) The BROWN OUT Eric Barton going on I.R.? Browns Owner " sick " about state of Browns, but won't fire Mantarded.

The Downward Spiral that is the Cleveland Browns.

Since I started this website/blog, I had all these ideas and things I was hoping would happen that I could write about. But alas there has been little good in the Year of our Lord 2009 Browns season. So today, as drove home from Cleveland Browns Stadium at seethed through a two hour ride home (an hour just to get out of the city), I have dissected that monstrosity of a game (if you even want to call it that, in fact I will refer to today's " game " as a scrimmage for the rest of this post). Even before today we can all say that this season had no real expectations attached to it. Most experts foresaw the Browns winning anywhere from 2-4 games this season. I am going to be totally honest. I would be completely happy if we lost the following 9 games left this season as long as we were competitive. Watching the Browns today was like watching that nerdy bunch of white guys in green jerseys that the Globe Trotters always kick the shit out of. What I am most upset about i

Your 2009 Cleveland Browns

Of course with any Cleveland team there are going to be negatives. We currently sit about 1/3 of the way through this season, so lets take a look at the vast collection of negatives that have accumulated so far. Eric Mantarded was hired. We traded down in the draft and picked a center. The whole "who's gonna start at QB" debacle. Stallworthless. Lurch at starting QB for the foreseeable future. Sir Drops a Lot gets traded for another guy (Chansi Stuckey) who's hands seem to be related. The Cleveland Browns have dropped 16 passes the past two games. The trade deadline came with no movement. Our leading tackler is on the I.R. Brian Robiskie (our first 2nd rd pick) seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. Our most promising rookie (out of camp at least), James Davis, was put on the I.R. after some extra curricular activities. Our current 1-5 record. Our lone win of 6-3. Josh Cribbs not getting a new contract. People at ESPN talkin smack (thanks T.G.) Eric Wrig

NFL Trade Deadline at 4pm Today.

With any of the 4 major sports, there are always rumors galour during the trade deadline. Along with an Indians team that fell well short of expectations. The Browns may also be in a selling mood. Names being mentioned have been Joshua Cribbs, Brady Quinn, Kameron Wimbley and Shaun Rodgers. Another name being mentioned as been former Buckeye Ted Ginn Jr of the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins may now have realized that they took him way to high in the draft just a few years ago. However if the Browns want a vertical threat at the right price, Ginn could be there man. If you recall rumors circulated earlier this year that the Dolphins and Browns were talking Braylon Edwards and Ronnie Brown. Maybe we can trade Wimbley for Bill Parcells instead? At this point I am still reluctant to give up Wimbley. Yes, he has fallen short of expectations from his standout rookie season, but on the other hand, he already has matched his sack totals from a year ago (4), and is on pace to beat his tota

Browns Win.....But man was it ugly.

Separated at birth? Lots of stuff to talk about besides the Browns winning a game (because lets face it, lets just shoot for another top 3 pick in next years draft at this point). Fins, Browns almost swapped Brown, Edwards Bills-Browns one-liners Rumors keep swirling, but facts remain murky around Eric Mangini Cleveland Browns coach Mangini will stick with Derek Anderson Words have been able to describe ones love for another, hatred toward an abusive parent, the feelings that one gets on a when looking out on a majestic landscape, but no words am I able to conjure, when thinking of the Cleveland Browns win on Sunday. It's kinda like, "sweet we won our first game, MY GOD WE STILL ARE AWFUL!!" But not as awful as the Buffalo Bills. Lurch was 2 for 17 passing. Why did we bench Brady Quinn again? Lurch was able to amass 23 yards passing. Here are some other numbers for you. Kellen Winslow had 9 catches for 102 yds and 2 TD's. Dennis Northcutt (yes he is still

Braylon Edwards........Buh Bye.

As most of you should know by know, Braylon Edwards has been traded to the Jets. The Cleveland Browns will now be known as the Cleveland West Jets. Say it with me now. W-E-S-T WEST WEST WEST!!!!! Watch more Megavideo videos on AOL Video The following are just some random thoughts that I scribbled down during my "work" day : Could we have traded for Gholston? Who's the next to go before the trade deadline........Dawson? Funny that we traded for a WR whose last name is Stuckey...dude must have hands made of glue!!! SWEET Edwards wanted a bigger stage to play on...Doesn't get much better than NY. Are the Browns unloading for an uncapped 2010 season? Lurch and Quinn contracts when do they expire? Whats the 2010 draft gonna look like? If Braylon continues to drop balls on a team that is good, in a city that big, God help him if it snows during a Jets game and the fans start hurling snowballs, again. For a guy who was fired j

Lebron James vs Braylon Edwards in Wrestlemania XVMIIVXVII

LeBron James says envy led to Braylon Edwards' downtown attack on event promoter By Mark Puente, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio — LeBron James said Monday that envy was at the root of a near melee outside a downtown nightclub that started after Browns receiver Braylon Edwards slugged a close friend of James. Edwards punched entertainment promoter Edward Givens about 2:30 a.m. outside the View Ultralounge & Nightclub on Prospect Avenue, witnesses said. James learned about the incident at 7 a.m. and later criticized Edwards' actions. The Cavs superstar called Givens his friend and said it is unfortunate the incident occurred. "I've never crossed paths with Braylon before but it seems like there is a little jealously going on with Braylon and me and my friends," James said. "I have no idea why. I've never said anything to Braylon at all. For him to do that I think is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously, it

Well at least this week it was a game (almost 4 hours long) Here are who I think should get game balls: Brodney Pool....... After 4 long years thank you for finally showing up to a game and participating instead of blowing coverages and making Sean Jones look retarded. Your head was in the game and you seemed to know where all the plays were. Jerome Harrison...... Congrats on your first 100yd game. And if I am not mistaken, our first of the year. You stepped up when we needed you to and we thank you for that. Mike Furrey...... As I said many posts ago, you are our poor mans Wes Welker. Now you are also our white mans Troy Brown. With your 3rd down heroics on 3rd downs and pass break-ups on defense, you truly are an unsung hero for this organization. Josh Cribbs...... Not only should you get a game ball each week, but if the Browns don't get there head out of there ass, you will make a fine addition to any team of your choosing in the future. You play like a man possessed, I o

Derek Anderson Your New Starting Quarterback

So that you are able to follow the posting below, I will refer to Derek Anderson as Lurch and Eric Mangini as Mantarded. Mantarded, why would you let Lurch be the Browns Starting QB? Lurch has already thrown as many interceptions as Quinn has. Mantarded, Please review the following: Brady Quinn + 10 quarters = 3 int's Lurch + 2 quarters = 3 int's Quinn 2009 completion percentage: 60.8 Lurch 2008 completion percentage: 50.2 Even in his Pro-Bowl season his high was 56.5%. My question to you Head Coach Mantarded is this: What happens when Lurch fires 6 int's in the next two weeks? I mean really lets face it, Lurch's decision making is about as strong as Britney Spears. Remember when she drove with her baby in her lap? When this happens (and even Al Davis can foresee this) what do you do then? Brett Ratliff ?!?!?!? I think I speak for all of us when I say this, that you received a hell of a wake-up call during the preseason watching him show the world that he is the only q

Browns Team Again on the Downward Spiral.

Caution The following thoughts and evaluations you are about to read are in no particular order as I was too upset to put my feeling into an exact order. The Bengals, Lions, and the Raiders. These are teams that should be in worse shape than the Cleveland Browns. And here we are again.....looking up from the basement in nearly every statistical category. Out of the 26 coaches that the Browns have had over the last ten years, I hate Mangini and his staff more than any other in the league. At let me tell you, I made quite a few Dick Lebeau jokes while he was running the show in Cincy. Not to mention my continuing hatred for Al Davis and his black hole organization. But Eric Mangini you take the cake. You have managed to take a organization and make them worse than what they were the year before. Even Chris Palmer had more team continuity with a roster of men playing together for the first time. You traded down in this past years draft to your FORMER team, to draft a center that so f

Browns vs Ravens: Notes, Thoughts and Predictions

Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis is at the magical age of 30, when NFL running backs begin their immediate decline. So it's with little surprise that we read the news from the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he'll miss today's game, just the third of the 2009 season. For those who were planning to start Lewis against the Baltimore Ravens today in fantasy, you can take a shot with Jerome Harrison or James Davis -- the two men who will share duties as his replacement. Then again, take a gander at what AFC North blogger James Walker had to say earlier in the week: "The Baltimore Ravens are giving the rest of the NFL a lot to worry about, and perhaps the scariest thought of all is that ESPN.com's top-rated team still has room to grow. Baltimore's defense is ranked No. 17 and has yet to get its act together against the pass. The Ravens' high-scoring offense has masked many of those early woes. But based on the team's history, you figure it

Browns News, Notes, and Shenanigans

As if getting beat down by a mediocre (at best) defense last week in Denver, we have the luxury of going up against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. To add another kick to the groin we also have the following to deal with (because 1 thing a week just wouldn't seem right): Jamal Lewis will most likely be riding the pine on Sunday with a pulled hamstring. So we will be relying on Jerome Harrison and rookie James Davis who is just a week removed from a car accident and a shoulder injury from the Denver game. Or will we be opening the passing floodgates this week led by Brady Quinn? ( read more ) Now the real head shaker. Rookie and training camp standout Coye Francies was the focal point of some rookie hazing earlier in the week. ( read more ) If what is stated is correct I am a little shocked at Francies's blow out. After seeing him several times being interviewed he is always the most pleasant and well mannered person that I have seen in some time.

The Mile High Beat Down

I came across a story earlier today that involved a tale of Browns head coach Eric Mangini fining a player over $1k for not paying for a $3 bottle of water at a hotel. Read More . No big deal, he's just trying to install his message to the players. Then the Denver 27 Browns 6 game ended. Eric Mangini will be fired at seasons end in 2010. Outside of Joe Thomas, Josh Cribbs, and Shaun Rodgers, this team has no talent on it whatsoever. "Core Quality" players are what Mangini is looking for. For what?!?!?!? So when you get killed again next week you don't sound like Kanye West during the post game interview?!?!?!? What was the deal with Brady Quinn today... Have you never dropped back in the pocket before? Do you not feel the snarling hot breath of 260lb men getting ready to drop your ass to the turf? IT'S CALLED POCKET PRESENCE AND YOU DON'T SEEM TO HAVE IT! Maybe you should spend less time in the weight room and more time working on the little things that other

Week 2: Browns vs Broncos

Well lets look at it this way....the Denver Broncos are (I think) are one of five teams that are in worse shape than the Browns. Who are they you ask? Starting with the worst: Oakland Raiders (Hang'em up already Al Davis) Detroit Lions Denver Broncos St. Louis Rams Kansas City Chiefs It has been well documented that things have been pretty messy in Denver since the divorce of Mike Shanahan and the Broncos and the trade of Jay Cutler to the Bears during the off season. The Broncos have a mental case in WR Brandon Marshall, a great 2nd year WR in Eddie Royal, and an unproven rookie RB in Knowshon Moreno....( read more ) . To top it all off they have a slow and ancient defense, aka LB Andra Davis, S Brian Dawkins, and DL Vonnie Holiday. Again key to winning this game will be ball control (as will every game for us this season). If we can replicate the first half of the Vikings game, we could be looking at our fist win of the young season. Three things to look at from the Browns offe

Brady Quinn to Win.....

Well either this is just another stunt to keep the Vikings guessing or this is actually how its going to play out. Via All-Pro WR Terrell Owens , he leaked a tweet stating that Quinn won the starting job here in Cleveland. Congrats 2 Brady Quinn 4 starting job w/Cleveland Browns!! about 5 hours ago from UberTwitter (his Twitter account is terrellowens) While taking a closer look at some of the "tweets" on T.O's account, I noticed Donte Stallworth conversing with him. Who knows, maybe T.O. does have the inside track. More from The Plain Dealers Mary-Kay Cabot ( read on ) But for anyone who follows the Browns this is not a earth shattering announcement. I think for the most part we all anticipated this. Now if we can trade Derek Anderson for a draft pick or something that would be the cherry on the sunday. Here was Eric Mangini's press conference from earlier stating that he sat down with both QB's and told them who won. But did not say to the press who it wa

Countdown to the Vikings.

With less than a week until the Browns battle the Vikings to kick off the '09 season, we still have no idea who is starting at QB......or do we? From the Mangini press conference on 9-7-09. “In terms of the quarterbacks, I’ll just say that I will be talking to those guys. I have made a decision. I’ll clearly explain what the decision was based on, why I made the decision that I did and what my expectations are. My expectations will be, clearly, that they support each other at all times, they support the team at all times and they both prepare as if they were the number one quarterback. In terms of announcing it publicly, that’s not something that I plan to do. It will be internal. I understand everybody has a different opinion on it, I respect that. I understand the excitement in relationship to that and I respect that as well. That will be something that will be internal. Being on the other side of this, as a defensive coordinator, it is more difficult to plan for two th

Browns Trim Roster to 52. Mangini on Jamal Lewis

The Browns made 23 roster moves this afternoon, trimming their roster to 52 players, one below the NFL limit. The Browns waived 18 players and terminated the contracts of five: DB Hamza Abdullah, RB Noah Herron, DB Corey Ivy, WR David Patten and TE Aaron Walker. Waived were FB Charles Ali, DB Brandon Anderson, QB Richard Bartel, DB Tra Battle, LB Beau Bell, OL Branndon Braxton, LB Titus Brown, OL Dustin Fry, DL Adam Hoppel, WR Paul Hubbard, RB Chris Jennings, WR Lance Leggett, OL Pat Murray, WR Jordan Norwood, OL Kurt Quarterman, DL Brian Schaefering, OL Isaac Sowells and DL Santonio Thomas. So all the speculation of Jamal Lewis being cut was just hear say. But the season is still early. To also be noticed 2008 4th RD pick Beau Bell was released. He seemed to get burried on the depth chart and looked to be nothing more than a special teams player. Also to note, QB Richard Bartel was cut. He was listed 4th on the depth chart but had a very solid game against Chicago this week.

T-Minus 24 hrs

The magic word of the day is...... AXE . The NFL final cut down day is fast approaching and rumors are flying around all over the league. All teams must have there final rosters down to 53 by 4pm Saturday. With nearly no one notable playing at all during the Browns final preseason game last night who knows who could be left off the list tomorrow. But lets speculate..... First and foremost, Derek Anderson (from WFNY) If we can get a draft pick or another usable OLineman, lets do it. Last I heard was that the Patriots will only have two QB's on the roster by tomorrow. Then the "Lets get a last look at RB James Davis". He may have single handedly extinguished Jamal Lewis's career as a Brown if not entirely. No one questions Lewis's heart or work ethic but it's that time in a running backs career where it's time to hang'em up. His burst, spring, cutting, and speed is next to nothing anymore. If Lewis does get the axe, it will be interesting to see if s

The Browns are Worth WHAT?!?!?!?!?

Its no secret that pro teams are worth stupid amounts of money. Forbes just came out with there yearly "About how much is this team worth?" piece. To skip right to the point, the Cleveland Browns are estimated to be worth $1.032 billion. Yes, for those younger viewers that may be reading this it looks like the following: $1,032,000,000. Yes that is a lot of zeros. On a side note, ESPN's Jimmy "i'm not dynomite" Walker who writes a AFC North blog wrote the following piece today: Half of AFC North face blackouts To leave this piece on a high note I leave you with the following snippet from the Forbes article posted by WFNY : The most interesting statistic on Forbes’ pages regarding these three teams is the average ticket price. The average ticket price in Pittsburgh is $75. For the Bengals, it is $70. For the Ravens, it is $77. For the Browns, it is only $55.

A Good Look at Rookie RB James Davis

I just came across this featured article from ROTOWORLD.com This seems to reinforce any rumors that may be swirling around Jamal Lewis's release. Now for the moment, Jamal Lewis's possible release is all just hearsay, I don't currently know what salary cap implications his release would have. But if any of you reading this have seen Davis's play this year, he could be this years 6th round steal in the draft. James Davis is moving up Rotoworld's Top 200s .....With Jamal Lewis running on empty and Jerome Harrison injured for most of camp, Davis has seen work with the Browns' starters. He's faced his share of Green Bay, Detroit, and Tennessee's first-team defenders. Davis ranks fifth in the NFL in preseason rushing (149 yards). Among running backs with 15 or more attempts, Davis leads the league in yards-per-carry average (7.8 on 19 totes), with only Mike Bell (7.7 on 15), Ahmad Bradshaw (7.2 on 19), and the Vikings' Adrian Peterson (7.2 on 25)
