Vikings Could Make or Break Browns Draft

With about 10 hours to go before the NFL draft, I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. I also feel like I could possibly take a trip up to Minnesota to kill anyone in the Vikings front office if they decide to trade there #3 overall pick, therefore blocking the Browns from drafting Bama RB Trent Richardson. In this very possible scenario, Tampa Bay which covets Richardson could very well put a package together to move up the two spots, leapfrogging Cleveland, and picking him forcing the Browns to go with plan "B" (if in fact the Browns do plan on taking Richardson). Minnesota is in a very plausible scenario where it seems that they will select USC OT Matt Kalil , However, they could also move down several positions, adding draft picks in a trade, and still get there guy. For a team like Minnesota who wouldn't mind adding draft picks this year. A trade could very well happen this evening. The other scenario could be the possibility that the St Louis Rams cou

Things to Look for on Draft Day

Just posting some links that I have come across that you may find enjoyable Browns War Room 2012 NFL Draft Order Josh Cribbs is SUPER FAST, in his Bentley. Browns, not good in drafting All-Pro Athletes . Tannehill did NOT meet with Mike Holmgren during recent visit . Again the Browns will pick in the following order (obviously this will most likely change): Rd 1 picks 4 and 22 (from ATL) Rd 2 pick 5 Rd 3 pick 4 Rd 4 picks 5 and 23 (from ATL) Rd 5 picks 4 and 25 (from DEN) Rd 6 picks 34 and 35 (both compensatory) Rd 7 picks 4, 38 and 40 (both compensatory)

The Browns' Draft of 2012

Earlier today as I was perusing through the streets of Akron, I was listening to the boys on 923thefan.com, and they came up with a disgusting fact. Since 1999, in just the QB, RB, and WR positions, the Browns have drafted 35 players. Names like Lee Suggs, Braylon Edwards, Brady Quinn, Syndric Steptoe, William Green, Travis Prentice and so on, have been drafted to contribute to the team and the NFL about as much as Paris Hilton has contributed to mankind. Our Brownies continue to be the the near laughing stock on the NFL. With a killer schedule coming up this season, a ton of talent to make this team better and not enough first round picks to fill those holes, I can see the new slogan for the Browns this year: Bark for Barkley The Browns need play makers. I would say more offense than defense at this point. But I don't think that getting a WR or QB at #4 will make this team really any better. I believe the best way to make this team be more competitive is to draft a RB like Tr

Give the Ball to Trent Richardson

With just over a week until draft day, the rumor mill (aka speculation mill) is running at ludicrous speed. So anyhow, the Rams and Eagles and maybe half a dozen other team have inquired about trading up in the draft to the Browns #4 pick. Look, getting more picks is a good thing for this team. But at some point we need to get REAL playmakers on the field. I'm talking about top tier studs. I didnt loose much sleep in not getting Falcons WR Julio Jones in last years draft (mostly because I would rather have had AJ Green) but we have to get some difference makers this year. Thats why I want to see the Browns stay at #4 overall and draft Bama RB Trent Richardson. Some of you can bitch all you want about drafting a RB that high, but damn near everyone thinks he's the best RB to come out of college since Adrian Peterson. He can run, catch, and block. How do those things not help this offense from day one? I changed my mind from wanting Justin Blackmon. For mostly character

The Browns and There Relationship with "Jack Squat"

For the second year in a row, our beloved Cleveland Browns have done next to nothing in adding any pieces to the team during the free agency period.  They failed to move up in the draft in a chance to draft either Andrew Luck or RGIII. And now rumors are circulation during the owners meetings going on currently in Florida that the Browns are entertaining calls from other teams who would like to move up to the 4th overall pick in next months draft. I'm going to be honest here. I continually have to tell myself that Holmgren and Hecket have a plan. If in fact (which we may never know, like the JFK assassination) the Browns did try and trade with the Rams to move up and lost out, but failed or didn't pursue a "Plan B".  We are left to wonder "OK, the Browns like RGIII enough to attempt a trade but like Colt McCoy enough to not go after another QB in free agency".  I will admit that I haven't lost any sleep since knowing the Browns lost out the Was
I am currently working on my evaluation of the offensive talent for the NFL Draft. I will be posting my thoughts in the very near future. Then following my thoughts on the defensive players.

Redskins Trade Up to #2

Around 10:30 Friday evening reports are coming out that the Washington Redskins have traded up to the number two overall spot in this Aprils NFL Draft. The cost coming out for the transaction: Redskins giving up three 1st Rd picks and a 2nd Rd pick. I don't believe the transaction can be official until this coming Tuesday. Closing though........Dan Snyder is an idiot. UPDATE 11:45pm: FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that St. Louis and Washington will exchange first-round picks this year. The Rams will get the Skins' first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. Washington also gives up there 2nd RD pick for this year as well.

Browns vs Redskins

Over the last few days there have been lots of reports via the usual channels (Twitter, ESPN, SI.com, Rotoworld.com etc) indicating that the Redskins are in hot pursuit to move up from the six overall pick in Aprils draft to the #2 spot to pick Robert Griffin III. Although (on paper) the Browns have the edge in moving up in the the draft via there 4th and 22nd picks in the first round of the draft, the Redskins are equipped with an owner (Dan "what ever, I do what I want" Snyder) who will do whatever it takes to get what he deems is necessary for his team. Someone had brought up a good point early today why the 'Skins could very well win this bidding war for the Rams #2 pick. Redskins would defiantly commit to the Rams well before the Browns would. Rams may want a deal sooner rather than later as the market for a QB may thin out some once Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn find new homes. Although the Browns have around $25-$27million in cap space this season, the

RGIII and Free Agent Wide Receivers

Its amazing what gaining 1 and 3/8 of an inch can do to every sports talk radio station and mock draft in America. Robert Griffin III who was some young man who played QB for some school named Baylor which I believe is in Texas. I believe he also won an award recently that was put into the same pose as Al Bundy. Anyhow, the Browns were figured to be able to give up there 4th and 22nd overall pick in the first round to the St. Louis Rams to move up to the 2nd overall pick in order to draft the young stud from Baylor who wears odd socks. Since this new measurement, the Browns are now looking to give up Randy Lerner's first born child, the keys to Cleveland, a limitless MBNA credit card, and a fully loaded Ford F150 delivered by Colt McCoy. I was ok maybe a week ago with giveing up two first round picks for RGIII, but now with each passing day at the combine, the Rams sit pretty knowing that they can now ask for everything and the kitchen sink for a team that wants/needs

What to do, what to do

The NFL Combine is here. Teams all around the league are getting ready to release players and will be "awarding" others the franchise tag. The Browns sit again in a questionable spot. Bad enough to get a top five pick, but not bad enough to get a player of Andrew Luck's caliber. Will RGIII be available at the forth pick? Does the Browns front office resign Peyton Hillis , do we draft Trent Richardson or do we look toward free agency? Do we pick Blackmon at 4 and fill the giant need at the WR position? What about drafting another stud at the corner back position? Will the Redskins and the Wizard of Odd, Dan Snyder try to leap frog the Browns for RGIII? Whats out there possibly in the free agent market? ( click here ) Saw earlier today on "the twitter" that the giant banner outside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis that used to display the Frankenstein like face of Peyton Manning now shows that of a giant blue horseshoe. Gotta think that Man

What to do in the 2012 NFL Draft

As much as I would like to see Colt McCoy excel as a Brown in the NFL. I don't think that this is going to happen. As a fan of professional football and that of the Cleveland Browns, I want to see every single draft pick excel to a pro-bowl type level. Obviously that would never happen (in any scenario). So, part of me wants to see Colt given another year to mature WITH SOME OFFENSIVE WEAPONS to see what he can really do. However when you have the fourth overall pick and you have a very good shot at picking a much more (all around) athletic QB like Robert Griffin III , its increasingly difficult to keep telling yourself that you would NOT be OK with Colt holding a clipboard next season. Yes, the Browns lead the league in dropped balls, (no thanks to Greg Little) and we had to rely on a practice squad castoff from the Texans to sure up on running game for a couple weeks with all the injuries at running back.
