Ok.....Just Hear Me Out on This One.

I have March Madness.  Except my version does not involve basketball.  Mine involves that time of the year where there is no football, no baseball, and my BlueJackets suck right now.  So my full attention is focused on the NFL draft.

Everyone and there next door neighbor has there theory on who is doing what and has some source that heard this rumor from a note written on the bathroom wall of a truck stop in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In the last several weeks we have the Cleveland Browns drafting in round one Eric Berry, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Joe Haden & God knows who else.

However.....what if we chose to draft another offensive lineman?

WTF?!?!? You say...

Let me ask you this: How did we win the last 4 games of 2009?

RUNNING THE BALL.

How sweet would our starting O-Line look with this blocking for Delhomme and Harrison:

LT Joe Thomas   LG Eric Steinbach  C  Alex Mack  RG  TBD   RT  Tony Pashos

And right now you may be saying, "But our defense sucks ass!!"

However if we can CONSISTENTLY run the ball, we run down the clock, and we keep the opponents offense off the field.

How great was it to watch Harrison and Cribbs slash through our opponents defense and the end of last season.  Lets expand with that because we know it can work, and probably even better with another stud lineman.

And it gets better! We could trade down (YES AGAIN FOR THE 2ND YEAR IN A ROW), pick the player that we want and get another draft pick or two in return!

CHRISTMAS IN APRIL!!!!!!!

So lets change that RG TBD and slide Pashos one spot to the left and insert at Right Tackle one of the following:

Anthony Davis Rutgers

Russell Okung Oklahoma State

Bryan Bulaga Iowa

Mike Iupati Boise State

I think we all get caught up in getting the "pretty" pick when drafting in...well....the first two rounds.  We want to see our team draft a guy who's gonna throw for 20 td's, or rush for 1400 yds, or have 1200 yds receiving there rookie year.

We all hated Mangina for trading down and picking a center last year.  But once Mack started to catch on late in the year, we all got to see how productive our run game could be.

I'm not saying this is what the franchise should do.  But with all the talk of getting a position player in round one, I thought I could bring into light picking an lineman as well.  Because without them, it could be another long season.

Normally I am against rape, but that Michicant player totally deserved it.

Shaun Rodgers and Some Insight on the Draft

A customer of mine told me once one of the greatest words to live by some years ago. “Never let your meat loaf.” Back when I heard this I only thought of it in a sexual context.   But after hearing of the release of DT Shaun Rodgers this past week I was able to apply this great piece of advice from a half senile old man in a different way. The 10 year veteran had played only sparingly over the past two seasons.   He ended the 2009 season on the I.R. (as so many others did as well).   This past season sometime during training camp, Rodgers became gimpy and turned into the Lance Armstrong of stationary bikes.   During the regular season Mr. Rodgers was lucky to play 20 snaps a game. 2009 stats: 11 games played, 11 game starts, 36 tackles (9 assisted) 2 sacks. 2010 stats: 15 games played, 1 game start, 17 tackles (3 assisted) 2 sacks. Shaun's salary in 2010 was $6.9 million, his base for 2011 was 5.5 million.  Really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure ...

Browns Could be Key to Where Mariota Lands

We all know by that our Brownies currently have picks 12 and 19 in next weeks draft. There are probably countless ways that the Browns could pull something off where we add talent and depth to this team or trade away all there picks for the next 2 years and only have a spread offense QB to show for it. I say if the Eagles will give Chip Kelly the power to make crazy trades, why not try and take advantage of that? Move down a few spots, gain extra picks and just make this team better from top to bottom instead of just focusing on one or two positions. However I don't see Sam Bradford doing any sort of sign and trade to the Browns. He does not want to play in Cleveland, even as the away team. Maybe we could even pull off a trade with the Chargers to get Phillip Rivers. He isn't my most favorite player in the world but compare him to what we have he looks pretty good. Plus you could plug him right in and play from day one. From Draft Insiders- – Expect the talk of teams...

Vikings Could Make or Break Browns Draft

With about 10 hours to go before the NFL draft, I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. I also feel like I could possibly take a trip up to Minnesota to kill anyone in the Vikings front office if they decide to trade there #3 overall pick, therefore blocking the Browns from drafting Bama RB Trent Richardson. In this very possible scenario, Tampa Bay which covets Richardson could very well put a package together to move up the two spots, leapfrogging Cleveland, and picking him forcing the Browns to go with plan "B" (if in fact the Browns do plan on taking Richardson). Minnesota is in a very plausible scenario where it seems that they will select USC OT Matt Kalil , However, they could also move down several positions, adding draft picks in a trade, and still get there guy. For a team like Minnesota who wouldn't mind adding draft picks this year. A trade could very well happen this evening. The other scenario could be the possibility that the St Louis Ram...
