A Three Headed Monster for a Rushing Attack in 2010?

Lets face it. The way we ended 2009 running the ball, we should not be shocked to see a 60/40 run/pass ratio this coming season.  However we have all heard the thoughts on if Jerome Harrison can handle (physically) being an every down back. Last years 6th round pick James Davis looked like a diamond in the rough until being injured during a practice and possibly putting himself in the doghouse after making comments about Mangini and how his practices are run. Now lets throw rookie RB Montario Hardesty and we got ourselves quite a little three headed monster rushing attack (in theory). And lets not forget the "flash package" with everyone's favorite former Kent State QB Josh Cribbs . Remember last year the Browns drafted two wide receivers in the 2nd round and neither did much to distinguish himself as a true #1 threat.  Although Massaquio did show some flashes of promise. Passing game will be bleak at best again this season. No matter who is playing QB. FB Lawren...

Your 2009 Cleveland Browns

Of course with any Cleveland team there are going to be negatives. We currently sit about 1/3 of the way through this season, so lets take a look at the vast collection of negatives that have accumulated so far. Eric Mantarded was hired. We traded down in the draft and picked a center. The whole "who's gonna start at QB" debacle. Stallworthless. Lurch at starting QB for the foreseeable future. Sir Drops a Lot gets traded for another guy (Chansi Stuckey) who's hands seem to be related. The Cleveland Browns have dropped 16 passes the past two games. The trade deadline came with no movement. Our leading tackler is on the I.R. Brian Robiskie (our first 2nd rd pick) seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. Our most promising rookie (out of camp at least), James Davis, was put on the I.R. after some extra curricular activities. Our current 1-5 record. Our lone win of 6-3. Josh Cribbs not getting a new contract. People at ESPN talkin smack (thanks T.G.) Eric Wrig...

Browns vs Ravens: Notes, Thoughts and Predictions

Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis is at the magical age of 30, when NFL running backs begin their immediate decline. So it's with little surprise that we read the news from the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he'll miss today's game, just the third of the 2009 season. For those who were planning to start Lewis against the Baltimore Ravens today in fantasy, you can take a shot with Jerome Harrison or James Davis -- the two men who will share duties as his replacement. Then again, take a gander at what AFC North blogger James Walker had to say earlier in the week: "The Baltimore Ravens are giving the rest of the NFL a lot to worry about, and perhaps the scariest thought of all is that ESPN.com's top-rated team still has room to grow. Baltimore's defense is ranked No. 17 and has yet to get its act together against the pass. The Ravens' high-scoring offense has masked many of those early woes. But based on the team's history, you figure it...

Browns News and Notes

Well I have to admit that I have been a little busy lately so I haven't been able to post much this past week (actually right now I am watching OSU/USC game so this will be a really short post until tomorrow) Brady Quinn born to be a Browns quarterback... Browns add four players ( read more ) The Lerner Ownership, 10 yrs of unimaginable bliss ( read more ) Finally if you were wondering if....... Mangini has not announced if the starting quarterback will be Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson . Let me put the shocked look on my face....

T-Minus 24 hrs

The magic word of the day is...... AXE . The NFL final cut down day is fast approaching and rumors are flying around all over the league. All teams must have there final rosters down to 53 by 4pm Saturday. With nearly no one notable playing at all during the Browns final preseason game last night who knows who could be left off the list tomorrow. But lets speculate..... First and foremost, Derek Anderson (from WFNY) If we can get a draft pick or another usable OLineman, lets do it. Last I heard was that the Patriots will only have two QB's on the roster by tomorrow. Then the "Lets get a last look at RB James Davis". He may have single handedly extinguished Jamal Lewis's career as a Brown if not entirely. No one questions Lewis's heart or work ethic but it's that time in a running backs career where it's time to hang'em up. His burst, spring, cutting, and speed is next to nothing anymore. If Lewis does get the axe, it will be interesting to see if s...

A Good Look at Rookie RB James Davis

I just came across this featured article from ROTOWORLD.com This seems to reinforce any rumors that may be swirling around Jamal Lewis's release. Now for the moment, Jamal Lewis's possible release is all just hearsay, I don't currently know what salary cap implications his release would have. But if any of you reading this have seen Davis's play this year, he could be this years 6th round steal in the draft. James Davis is moving up Rotoworld's Top 200s .....With Jamal Lewis running on empty and Jerome Harrison injured for most of camp, Davis has seen work with the Browns' starters. He's faced his share of Green Bay, Detroit, and Tennessee's first-team defenders. Davis ranks fifth in the NFL in preseason rushing (149 yards). Among running backs with 15 or more attempts, Davis leads the league in yards-per-carry average (7.8 on 19 totes), with only Mike Bell (7.7 on 15), Ahmad Bradshaw (7.2 on 19), and the Vikings' Adrian Peterson (7.2 on 25) ...

Browns vs Titans Review

Quinn to Win!!! Lineup changes: Adams starts at safety, Rubin at nose, Hall at OLB. Inactives include Rogers, Harrison, Pool, Tucker, Bowens, Brown Wimbley and Mosley team for a sack. Mack starts at center for the second straight week. Cribbs lots of time with the 1st team offense and effective. Quinn looks good so far but they have to settle for a FG. (at least we moved the ball and there were no sacks) Quinn 7/9 for 74 yrds, picking up the blitzs well, what's DA gonna do? DA trips ref, night not starting off well. Sure would be nice to see how Rodgers would affect the pass rush. Blocked FG....NICE. DA in and another screen play. Is it just me or does Quinn not seem to hook up with Edwards like DA does? DA misses a short pass yet again. Get used to the def pass interferance w/out a pass rush. Titan turnover to kill the first half. Titans 7-3 at halftime. Anderson is 4-of-5 for 54 yards. Quinn is 7-of-9 for 74 yards. 3rd quarter starts with DA marching down the field. Edwards with ...

Browns Preseason week #2.

What to look for during the Browns Preseason game against the Detroit Lions Who will be starting at QB? Will the browns go 8 games in a row without scoring an offensive touchdown? Will Alex Mack get more time against a first team defense? Will Jamal Lewis look any better than the 29 yr old legs that carry him? Will we see the trio of Edwards, Furrey, and Cribbs with the first team offense again? Yes the Lions are a much weaker team as our last opponent (Green Bay), however the talent level is much stronger and the team will have some depth this season. This will be the first home game for the rookies so plan on some mental miscues by the youngsters as there adrenalin runs wild. Some other players that seem to have fallen off the map recently are: RB James Davis, WR Brian Robiskie, C Alex Mack. Can these rookies find there groove again and show some highlights for the home crowd? The Cleveland Browns have also signed free agent running back Chris Jennings. In turn, the team waived l...
