2018 NFL Draft Cleveland Browns Preview

***UPDATE #2*** Per RotoWorld and Jordan Raanan of ESPN: Rumor has it that the NY Giants are only willing to spend the 2nd overall pick in April's draft for a QB if it were going to be Sam Darnold. Read More    Browns also made another move in for the secondary by signing CB EJ Gaines. Read More. **UPDATE** As many of you have probably already scene. The NY Giants traded DE Jason Pierre-Paul to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday. Really, three things could happen here. Giants draft a QB or Barkely. They could still trade out with Buffalo or another sneaker team that no one is aware of yet. Finally, and what seems to now make the most sense, they draft DE Bradley Chubb in place of JPP's vacancy.   Who will be the one? Just weeks away from the 2018 NFL Draft and our beloved Cleveland Browns find themselves again picking high in Round 1.  At this point, with the New York Jets trading up to the #3 spot it looks like this draft could be shaking u...

Josh Gordon: Not that difficult of a decision.

Josh Gordon is making steps to set himself up for reinstatement by the NFL. But do we want to see him in a Browns uniform again? He is still just 25 years old. He may be in shape, but is he in football shape? Does he actually realize that this is his last chance? Do we even care because the Browns will be lucky to even win two games this year? My thoughts (for what little they are worth), just move on. We are beyond rebirth again at this point. To me he is just taking up a roster spot from someone who hasn't screwed up 10 times and/or from someone who actually loves to play the game and wants to show up to practice and become a household name on Sundays.  Hugh Jackson and his coaching staff need to realize this and work with the loaded WR roster we currently have. Mold these youngsters into what you want and need and roll with it. Why: Because, Josh  has not played an NFL game since December 21, 2014 and has been suspended for 27 of his last 32!  Next time, I w...

Ex Browns: Picks of Future Past

Above you will notice old faces with whom you may have a jersey of sitting in the back of your closet collecting dust. With names such as Richardson, Mingo, Manziel, Green, Weedon, Quinn, Robiskie, Little and the list goes on. Like most red blooded Americans, we like flash, we like bling, we like sexy. Drafting D-line or O-line personnel are not these things. When your team decides to trade down in the draft and draft a center from Cal, its just not SEXY.  Draft me a guy who will suit up in the number 88 and catch for 1400 yds and 11 TD's in round one.   However........... DT Leonard Williams could be a stud. Phil Taylor has been hit by the injury bug in each of the last three years and never really seemed to be the real play maker we need on that defensive front.  OLB Dante Fowler Jr  like Williams above, the Browns will need to trade up if they would like him practicing in Berea this year. He totaled 25 sacks his last two years at Florida a...

Your Cleveland Browns 2015 Schedule

Couple of pieces to point out: We start the year on the road which I believe has only happened three or four times since our rebirth. We have a Thursday night game at Cincy and a Monday night game at home against Baltimore . Our bye is on week eleven and that will be a good place to collect ourselves and we end the last third of the year against some pretty tough opponents. Being that we are playing a lot of AFC/NFC West teams we only have two 4:05 starts. Links of Interest: NFL Draft Full NFL 2015 Schedule

How Does Johnny Football Figure Into This Years Draft?

With the NFL Draft fast approaching your Cleveland Browns are faced with another slew of challenges (and by challenges I really mean a giant shit storm of problems). It is beyond obvious that GM Ray Farmer is clueless on how to build a team through the draft and all the corner office suits are so inept at there positions that we can't even get any decent free agents to visit let alone sign here. The Browns are currently picking 12th and 19th in the first round. Depending on the mock draft the Browns could be doing anything from trading up with  Tennessee to draft Marcus Mariota or just turning in a blank card on draft day. For once, the Browns should only do one of two things. One: Stay at both 12 and 19 and draft the best available player or your "big board" at those spots. We basically suck at every position but LT, C, and one CB spot. Bolster your roster from top to bottom, add depth, play makers, make smart decisions. If the QB you want is not going to be...

Back from the DEAD?!?!?

Yes, I've been away for sometime. But with the draft just a week away I have decided to return for your bored at work viewing pleasure. Check back in the next day or two from my semi detailed guess on the Browns draft Rd 1. Will it be Texas A & M squinter Johnny Manziel  , an OT from Auburn, or a slasher of a WR from Clemson?  Lets face it, Flo from Progressive Insurance and the Cleveland Indians drive us crazy so lets kick start football season!! The Browns and There Relationship with "Jack Squat"

For the second year in a row, our beloved Cleveland Browns have done next to nothing in adding any pieces to the team during the free agency period.  They failed to move up in the draft in a chance to draft either Andrew Luck or RGIII. And now rumors are circulation during the owners meetings going on currently in Florida that the Browns are entertaining calls from other teams who would like to move up to the 4th overall pick in next months draft. I'm going to be honest here. I continually have to tell myself that Holmgren and Hecket have a plan. If in fact (which we may never know, like the JFK assassination) the Browns did try and trade with the Rams to move up and lost out, but failed or didn't pursue a "Plan B".  We are left to wonder "OK, the Browns like RGIII enough to attempt a trade but like Colt McCoy enough to not go after another QB in free agency".  I will admit that I haven't lost any sleep since knowing the Browns lost out the Was...

Redskins Trade Up to #2

Around 10:30 Friday evening reports are coming out that the Washington Redskins have traded up to the number two overall spot in this Aprils NFL Draft. The cost coming out for the transaction: Redskins giving up three 1st Rd picks and a 2nd Rd pick. I don't believe the transaction can be official until this coming Tuesday. Closing though........Dan Snyder is an idiot. UPDATE 11:45pm: FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that St. Louis and Washington will exchange first-round picks this year. The Rams will get the Skins' first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. Washington also gives up there 2nd RD pick for this year as well.

RGIII and Free Agent Wide Receivers

Its amazing what gaining 1 and 3/8 of an inch can do to every sports talk radio station and mock draft in America. Robert Griffin III who was some young man who played QB for some school named Baylor which I believe is in Texas. I believe he also won an award recently that was put into the same pose as Al Bundy. Anyhow, the Browns were figured to be able to give up there 4th and 22nd overall pick in the first round to the St. Louis Rams to move up to the 2nd overall pick in order to draft the young stud from Baylor who wears odd socks. Since this new measurement, the Browns are now looking to give up Randy Lerner's first born child, the keys to Cleveland, a limitless MBNA credit card, and a fully loaded Ford F150 delivered by Colt McCoy. I was ok maybe a week ago with giveing up two first round picks for RGIII, but now with each passing day at the combine, the Rams sit pretty knowing that they can now ask for everything and the kitchen sink for a team that wants/needs...

Browns VS Dolphins

Our 1 - 1 Cleveland Browns host the 0 - 2 Miami Dolphins today at 1pm.  The inaccurately throwing Chad Henne will try to lead his pod to a win today at Browns Stadium.  If you look at the first set of stats below. QB Chad Henne leads his team in rushing with a whopping 85 yards.  That make me feel a little better that Peyton Hillis' 3.4 ypc so far this season. Coach Shurmur says he's not worried about the yards per carry this early in the season yet. Our offensive line is still learning to play alone side one another due to the injuries. Why is this stat a big deal?  Any coach will tell you, running the football wins you football the majority of the time.  If you do not have a balanced offense, it will eventually come back to bite you in the ass. We all know that the Browns just don't have enough offensive weapons to spread the field like the Lions or Texans for example. So running the ball while running down the clock and keeping the ball out of ...

Mock Draft Crazy and Proud of it!!!!

A friend of mine recently complained that, and I quote, “Anyone else feel like following NFL draft projections in the months leading up to the draft is a little like shopping for a new big screen four years before you plan on buying it? I swear I just heard the 18 th new “first pick by the Browns” projected by the “experts” over the past three months”. My response to him was, GUILTY. And in turn he informed me that he posted that because of my numerous tweets concerning this very same topic. Normally I would be reluctant to point out one of my few flaws as a human being. However I love this time of year. Hockey playoffs are on the horizon, baseball season has just begun, and the NFL Draft is only three weeks away. The majority of Browns fans will not contest why people like myself search the “series of tubes” for sites that find ways to tickle my interest at what NFL teams will do while on the clock on draft weekend. Draft a QB, WR, trade, let the clock run out (2 years in a row...

Looking Toward the End of April.

Well, Superbowl 45 has come and gone. And to my knowledge, the Steelers having lost is the highlight of my NFL season.  Now we have reached that dreaded off-season where really nothing is going on until free agency begins, the rookie combine and then the draft at the end of April ( CBA permitting). Current free agent list by position Notable Cleveland Browns Free agents in 2011: G Pork Chop Womack, TE Alex Smith, DE Robaire Smith, QB Seneca Wallace, RB Mike Bell, FB Lawrence Vickers, WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Matt Roth, LB Marcus Benard, LB Chris Gocong, LB Jason Trusnik, LB D'Qwell Jackson, CB Eric Wright, S Abram Elam, S Nick Sorensen, K Phil Dawson. There are some intriguing (and possible) free agents that will be hitting the market. Names like WR Vincent Jackson, DE Mathias Kiwanuka, WR (recent SuperBowl Champion) James Jones, LB Barrett Ruud, CB Champ Bailey, CB Brent Grimes, WR (GIANTS) Steve Smith, LB Chad Greenway, and a slew of DE that the Browns will need to do some ...

Real Optimism at the half-way mark of the 2010 season.

Since the Browns have returned in "99, they have made the playoffs only once.  So many of us fans in north east Ohio and around the globe have always held  onto something good that came from that past season in hopes that the following year would be they year that the stars aligned and everything came together. In a drunken stupor (which is what I am calling it now), I predicted that the Browns this season would be the team which exceeded expectations around the league and came out of the shadows of oblivion to maybe make a quick playoff appearance this season. But alass, the Tampa Bay Bucs seem to have taken that spot this year. However............... Take a look at some of the stories from the NFL that plague sports talk radio and ESPN currently. The Dallas Cowboys .  Outside of there offensive line, this team isn't all that bad.  But Jerry Jones, Wade Phillips, a 1.5 billion dollar stadium, and a 1-6 record put this team on the threat level " red...

Browns Start Year at 0 and 3.

Some of you may be wondering why I hadn't posted before the Ravens game.   Honestly.......I couldn't muster up any positives for that particular game.  The Brian Robiskie, Shaun Rogers, Jerome Harrison, Jake Delhomme,  and a few others inactive for that game (not to mention @DQ52 being put on the IR, I honestly didn't expect much. After every loss from the Browns over the past 11 years, the local media has tried to put a positive spin on the loss, that we are just on the verge of being competitive, or, we're one more draft away from getting the couple players that we need to make a deep run into the playoffs. Bullshit....... When the Browns came back in '99, I had just turned 20, I was full of optimism and knew that I was young but ten years from now (back then), all us Browns fans could have something to love and watch beat the piss out of the Steelers twice a year. What do we have to show for the past decade: NOTHING Outside of the obvious, this is how we s...

Cleveland Browns WEAK #2

I believe since the Browns rebirth in "99, they have won only one home opener.  Normally it would be nice to start off the first home game of the season with a win, but after over a decade of screw ups, botched hires, key free agent injuries, and uncertainty in the front office.....we desperately need a win today. What we learned from last WEAK: Peyton Hillis can be the man.......as long as he doesn't fumble the ball three times a game. Jake Delhomme came back from last years form to throw 2 INT's and barely attempt a pass over 10 yards the entire game. Our receivers so far have not impressed me what-so-ever. We might as well start punting on 3rd and long. Jerome Harrison apparently was not going to be the feature back this season, making Montario Hardesty's injury that more potent. Jake Delhomme is listed as doubtful for this week. (It's probably a good thing) Harrison had 268 yards rushing and 3 TD's against this team last season. Hell, I'll ta...

What the Hell is the Cyclone!?!?!

Many of you are aware of what many teams call the "Wildcat".  For those of you that don't, this is where your RB lines up in a formation as the QB and normally a run play presumes. The Wildcat Power Diagram, Note where the QB is lined up. With the emergence of Josh Cribbs and his evolution into trying to get him the ball more, the Browns installed there version of the Wildcat (which was more or less taken/carried over from Josh's days at Kent State), the "Flash" package. In another year where the Browns will have another starting QB and three total new ones on the roster, lets take note of QB Seneca Wallace.  In his two years at Iowa St, he was more of a mobile QB than a pass happy precision beast. Some of you may remember what is called "the run": At times while in Seattle, Wallace has made some flashy plays, but with Delhomme and his giant 1 yr contract, Colt "the wonder boy" McCoy  probably sitting this season out learning ...
