Ex Browns: Picks of Future Past

Above you will notice old faces with whom you may have a jersey of sitting in the back of your closet collecting dust. With names such as Richardson, Mingo, Manziel, Green, Weedon, Quinn, Robiskie, Little and the list goes on. Like most red blooded Americans, we like flash, we like bling, we like sexy. Drafting D-line or O-line personnel are not these things. When your team decides to trade down in the draft and draft a center from Cal, its just not SEXY.  Draft me a guy who will suit up in the number 88 and catch for 1400 yds and 11 TD's in round one.   However........... DT Leonard Williams could be a stud. Phil Taylor has been hit by the injury bug in each of the last three years and never really seemed to be the real play maker we need on that defensive front.  OLB Dante Fowler Jr  like Williams above, the Browns will need to trade up if they would like him practicing in Berea this year. He totaled 25 sacks his last two years at Florida a...

Manziel Released from Rehab

Well the real fun now begins. Johnny Football is out of rehab and with all signs pointing to that the Browns organization has moved on after just one year. What will happen to last years 1st round pick? There is not much market for a short, inexperienced, problem child, backup QB. For any team to take him in a trade we would really need to put up some real value to make a deal happen.  Lots of stories will start to swirl now that the draft is less than three weeks away. Be wary of what you read. Then again believe anything that you hear/read since Jimmy "do as I say not as I do" Haslam is running the show along with GM extraordinaire Ray "rollin the dice" Farmer.

Browns Looking to Move Up for Marcus Mariota

Not really all that surprising. From now until the draft you will always see rumors flying around but I really cant put this past the Browns that they wouldn't be trying to pull this off. Read the full story here Cleveland has also found a replacement for the oft injured Jordan Cameron or if you are the Dolphins, Cameron Jordan. Your new pass catching tight end  Rob Housler . He is currently on a one year deal and should see much playing time as of right now we have no one else. His best year was in 2012 where he caught 45 balls for the Cardinals for 400 yds. He has a career TD total of 1. Yes 1.

How Does Johnny Football Figure Into This Years Draft?

With the NFL Draft fast approaching your Cleveland Browns are faced with another slew of challenges (and by challenges I really mean a giant shit storm of problems). It is beyond obvious that GM Ray Farmer is clueless on how to build a team through the draft and all the corner office suits are so inept at there positions that we can't even get any decent free agents to visit let alone sign here. The Browns are currently picking 12th and 19th in the first round. Depending on the mock draft the Browns could be doing anything from trading up with  Tennessee to draft Marcus Mariota or just turning in a blank card on draft day. For once, the Browns should only do one of two things. One: Stay at both 12 and 19 and draft the best available player or your "big board" at those spots. We basically suck at every position but LT, C, and one CB spot. Bolster your roster from top to bottom, add depth, play makers, make smart decisions. If the QB you want is not going to be...

Back from the DEAD?!?!?

Yes, I've been away for sometime. But with the draft just a week away I have decided to return for your bored at work viewing pleasure. Check back in the next day or two from my semi detailed guess on the Browns draft Rd 1. Will it be Texas A & M squinter Johnny Manziel  , an OT from Auburn, or a slasher of a WR from Clemson?  Lets face it, Flo from Progressive Insurance and the Cleveland Indians drive us crazy so lets kick start football season!! Things to Look for on Draft Day

Just posting some links that I have come across that you may find enjoyable Browns War Room 2012 NFL Draft Order Josh Cribbs is SUPER FAST, in his Bentley. Browns, not good in drafting All-Pro Athletes . Tannehill did NOT meet with Mike Holmgren during recent visit . Again the Browns will pick in the following order (obviously this will most likely change): Rd 1 picks 4 and 22 (from ATL) Rd 2 pick 5 Rd 3 pick 4 Rd 4 picks 5 and 23 (from ATL) Rd 5 picks 4 and 25 (from DEN) Rd 6 picks 34 and 35 (both compensatory) Rd 7 picks 4, 38 and 40 (both compensatory)

The Browns and There Relationship with "Jack Squat"

For the second year in a row, our beloved Cleveland Browns have done next to nothing in adding any pieces to the team during the free agency period.  They failed to move up in the draft in a chance to draft either Andrew Luck or RGIII. And now rumors are circulation during the owners meetings going on currently in Florida that the Browns are entertaining calls from other teams who would like to move up to the 4th overall pick in next months draft. I'm going to be honest here. I continually have to tell myself that Holmgren and Hecket have a plan. If in fact (which we may never know, like the JFK assassination) the Browns did try and trade with the Rams to move up and lost out, but failed or didn't pursue a "Plan B".  We are left to wonder "OK, the Browns like RGIII enough to attempt a trade but like Colt McCoy enough to not go after another QB in free agency".  I will admit that I haven't lost any sleep since knowing the Browns lost out the Was...

Redskins Trade Up to #2

Around 10:30 Friday evening reports are coming out that the Washington Redskins have traded up to the number two overall spot in this Aprils NFL Draft. The cost coming out for the transaction: Redskins giving up three 1st Rd picks and a 2nd Rd pick. I don't believe the transaction can be official until this coming Tuesday. Closing though........Dan Snyder is an idiot. UPDATE 11:45pm: FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that St. Louis and Washington will exchange first-round picks this year. The Rams will get the Skins' first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. Washington also gives up there 2nd RD pick for this year as well.

Browns vs Redskins

Over the last few days there have been lots of reports via the usual channels (Twitter, ESPN, SI.com, Rotoworld.com etc) indicating that the Redskins are in hot pursuit to move up from the six overall pick in Aprils draft to the #2 spot to pick Robert Griffin III. Although (on paper) the Browns have the edge in moving up in the the draft via there 4th and 22nd picks in the first round of the draft, the Redskins are equipped with an owner (Dan "what ever, I do what I want" Snyder) who will do whatever it takes to get what he deems is necessary for his team. Someone had brought up a good point early today why the 'Skins could very well win this bidding war for the Rams #2 pick. Redskins would defiantly commit to the Rams well before the Browns would. Rams may want a deal sooner rather than later as the market for a QB may thin out some once Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn find new homes. Although the Browns have around $25-$27million in cap space this season, the...

RGIII and Free Agent Wide Receivers

Its amazing what gaining 1 and 3/8 of an inch can do to every sports talk radio station and mock draft in America. Robert Griffin III who was some young man who played QB for some school named Baylor which I believe is in Texas. I believe he also won an award recently that was put into the same pose as Al Bundy. Anyhow, the Browns were figured to be able to give up there 4th and 22nd overall pick in the first round to the St. Louis Rams to move up to the 2nd overall pick in order to draft the young stud from Baylor who wears odd socks. Since this new measurement, the Browns are now looking to give up Randy Lerner's first born child, the keys to Cleveland, a limitless MBNA credit card, and a fully loaded Ford F150 delivered by Colt McCoy. I was ok maybe a week ago with giveing up two first round picks for RGIII, but now with each passing day at the combine, the Rams sit pretty knowing that they can now ask for everything and the kitchen sink for a team that wants/needs...

What to do in the 2012 NFL Draft

As much as I would like to see Colt McCoy excel as a Brown in the NFL. I don't think that this is going to happen. As a fan of professional football and that of the Cleveland Browns, I want to see every single draft pick excel to a pro-bowl type level. Obviously that would never happen (in any scenario). So, part of me wants to see Colt given another year to mature WITH SOME OFFENSIVE WEAPONS to see what he can really do. However when you have the fourth overall pick and you have a very good shot at picking a much more (all around) athletic QB like Robert Griffin III , its increasingly difficult to keep telling yourself that you would NOT be OK with Colt holding a clipboard next season. Yes, the Browns lead the league in dropped balls, (no thanks to Greg Little) and we had to rely on a practice squad castoff from the Texans to sure up on running game for a couple weeks with all the injuries at running back. (  Chris Ogbonnaya  ) Would a stud WR like Justin Blackmon be...

What to Watch For and to Remember as Draft Day Approaches:

The draft starts on Thursday at 8pm. (just like last year). The Browns pick #6 in round one. In the early rounds look for a playmaking WR in AJ Green or Julio Jones or a passrushing LB/DE in Robert Quinn. Keep in mind that with the current lockout, free agency is on hold. Could it benefit the Browns to draft first this year, rather than woo free agents and then draft to fill in the holes? Don't expect the Browns to take a QB in the first 3 rounds. Unless someone falls dramatically like Brady Quinn and Ben Rapistburger did in the past. With needs at WR, DL, LB, and CB, I just don't see it happening. The Indians play the Royals at home that day, so if your are going up to the draft party at Browns Stadium, you may want to go up early (could be a little congested). If Cam Newton were still available at #6, look for Cleveland to trade down, no more that three spots to gain picks and STILL get the player they had on their "big board". No matter how many draft m...
