Ben Roethlisberger and his current situation. Possible Draft Scenarios.

I don't think that I really need to explain my in depth hate for that of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I think given his three extra curricular activities (motorcycle, acting like Kobe in Reno, and then the 20 yr old woman in Georgia), those instances and this photo above can possibly give some insight on how "Big" Ben likes to spend his free time.

Reports all afternoon have the Steelers now shopping there star QB who also carries a large contract.

According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Raiders are in contact with the Steelers about a trade for Ben Roethlisberger.
La Canfora says Oakland "might be (the) only real option" for Pittsburgh if the Steelers are truly prepared to wash their hands of the 28-year-old QB. The Raiders, smartly (for once), appear to have realized that JaMarcus Russell is a bust, and very arguably the biggest in NFL history. The Steelers might ask for Nnamdi Asomugha in addition to Oakland's No. 8 overall pick. Apr. 21 - 3:30 pm et

It may be weeks until we really know what's going on behind the scenes regarding Ben Roethlisberger's trade talks.

In the short term, teams connected to him are choosing to deny, deny, deny.  The Browns are the latest, telling the Cleveland Plain-Dealer they have not been contacted by Pittsburgh.  NFL Network's Jason La Canfora also reports the Steelers wouldn't trade Big Ben inside the division.

It would be rather surprising if Pittsburgh was willing to help the Browns, but a lot of surprising things have occurred of late.  We can't help but remember Mike Holmgren's recent statement:

"Prior to the draft, I'll say any number of things for any number of reasons."
Ben for a Top 10? From ESPN
I myself could really see Roethlisberger going to Seattle (because they need a new, young QB and have two 1st rd picks tomorrow). And I see Oakland making the jump.  Because Al Davis is....well..... Al Davis.  JaMarcus Russell is a joke of a QB and Al Davis will pull the trigger on anything he feels will make his team better (note, what HE feels makes the team better).

The more interesting piece is what if Seattle does take Ben?  The what happens to all of the billions of man hours wasted on mock drafts?  If Seattle gives up the #6 pick for BR, who then would the Steelers pick at 6?  Would Eric Berry be a lock for us at #7 now?  What other trades could take place because of BR relocating of the eve of the draft?

Oh this draft is gonna be fun.

Shaun Rodgers and Some Insight on the Draft

A customer of mine told me once one of the greatest words to live by some years ago. “Never let your meat loaf.” Back when I heard this I only thought of it in a sexual context.   But after hearing of the release of DT Shaun Rodgers this past week I was able to apply this great piece of advice from a half senile old man in a different way. The 10 year veteran had played only sparingly over the past two seasons.   He ended the 2009 season on the I.R. (as so many others did as well).   This past season sometime during training camp, Rodgers became gimpy and turned into the Lance Armstrong of stationary bikes.   During the regular season Mr. Rodgers was lucky to play 20 snaps a game. 2009 stats: 11 games played, 11 game starts, 36 tackles (9 assisted) 2 sacks. 2010 stats: 15 games played, 1 game start, 17 tackles (3 assisted) 2 sacks. Shaun's salary in 2010 was $6.9 million, his base for 2011 was 5.5 million.  Really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure ...

Odds and ends

On a slow day (although the day is still young) here is just a reminder and update on whats going on in the world of the Orange and Brown : Whispers from sources are saying that Rex Hadnot has had not a minor but serious knee injury. It's probably safe to say that you can put an I.R. next to his name. Don't miss Family Day at Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 9.
