Give the Ball to Trent Richardson

With just over a week until draft day, the rumor mill (aka speculation mill) is running at ludicrous speed.

So anyhow, the Rams and Eagles and maybe half a dozen other team have inquired about trading up in the draft to the Browns #4 pick. Look, getting more picks is a good thing for this team. But at some point we need to get REAL playmakers on the field. I'm talking about top tier studs. I didnt loose much sleep in not getting Falcons WR Julio Jones in last years draft (mostly because I would rather have had AJ Green) but we have to get some difference makers this year. Thats why I want to see the Browns stay at #4 overall and draft Bama RB Trent Richardson. Some of you can bitch all you want about drafting a RB that high, but damn near everyone thinks he's the best RB to come out of college since Adrian Peterson. He can run, catch, and block. How do those things not help this offense from day one?

I changed my mind from wanting Justin Blackmon. For mostly character issues that I have been hearing. Also for the fact that this draft is pretty deep at the WR position, and waiting until pick #22 won't kill us. The AFC North is a very physical division where the Browns have to play the Steelers and Ravens twice a year. Remember who the Browns had starting for a time at RB last season. Chris Ogbonnaya,a guy that was on the Texans practice squad.

Lets give Colt mccoy something to fall back on, a safety net if you will. lets not all through a hissy fit like a former Bengals coach or like me when your blog only allows you to type in caps and be.....ok.......if the browns choose Trent richardson with there first pick.

Shaun Rodgers and Some Insight on the Draft

A customer of mine told me once one of the greatest words to live by some years ago. “Never let your meat loaf.” Back when I heard this I only thought of it in a sexual context.   But after hearing of the release of DT Shaun Rodgers this past week I was able to apply this great piece of advice from a half senile old man in a different way. The 10 year veteran had played only sparingly over the past two seasons.   He ended the 2009 season on the I.R. (as so many others did as well).   This past season sometime during training camp, Rodgers became gimpy and turned into the Lance Armstrong of stationary bikes.   During the regular season Mr. Rodgers was lucky to play 20 snaps a game. 2009 stats: 11 games played, 11 game starts, 36 tackles (9 assisted) 2 sacks. 2010 stats: 15 games played, 1 game start, 17 tackles (3 assisted) 2 sacks. Shaun's salary in 2010 was $6.9 million, his base for 2011 was 5.5 million.  Really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure ...

The Pooh Has Hit The Fan

Its been about a week since my last post. But its been very difficult to write about something that isn't worth writing about. So what I am going to do is simply post everything interesting I have been able to come across during the past few days. Oh, in case you didn't hear, the Browns let the door hit the ass of general manager George Kokinis on his way out. AFC North Stock Watch Adam Schefter talks about Cleveland getting rid of GM George Kokinis and what this means for Eric Mangini ( video ) The BROWN OUT Eric Barton going on I.R.? Mantarded's Master Plan ? The Browns should lose there Monday Night Football spot. Tedy Bruschi Defends Eric Mantarded. Browns Fans Say Owner Has Dogged Determination. Browns Owner " sick " about state of Browns, but won't fire Mantarded.

The Ongoing QB Competition/Dilemma/Nightmare

I caught the following on a CBS Browns message board earlier today and thought I would share. Normally I don't take much from these, but there are several good points made. Enjoy..... I just got to see his press conference from yesterday, and it sure sounds to me like he has no intention of letting either Anderson or Quinn establish any kind of rhythem at all. Expect a similiar QB rotation to what we endured last Saturday night.....WHY? I understand that he wants to play the match-up game, but how can a QB get the feel for the offense if he's yanked every other drive? The two quickest to reason ideas would be: 1. Both quarterbacks are extremely talented and choosing one over the other is like picking Tom Brady over Peyton Manning . 2. Both quarterbacks are extremely un-talented and it's like having to pick between Alex Smith or Akili Smith. Personally, I have two views on the situation: 1. Mangini wants to create as much value as possible for Derek Anderson so he...
