Earlier today as I was perusing through the streets of Akron, I was listening to the boys on 923thefan.com, and they came up with a disgusting fact. Since 1999, in just the QB, RB, and WR positions, the Browns have drafted 35 players. Names like Lee Suggs, Braylon Edwards, Brady Quinn, Syndric Steptoe, William Green, Travis Prentice and so on, have been drafted to contribute to the team and the NFL about as much as Paris Hilton has contributed to mankind.
Our Brownies continue to be the the near laughing stock on the NFL. With a killer schedule coming up this season, a ton of talent to make this team better and not enough first round picks to fill those holes, I can see the new slogan for the Browns this year: Bark for Barkley
The Browns need play makers. I would say more offense than defense at this point. But I don't think that getting a WR or QB at #4 will make this team really any better. I believe the best way to make this team be more competitive is to draft a RB like Trent Richardson.
Why not Justin Blackmon? Most NFLologists (yeah I just made that up), will tell you that a WR doesn't really start to come into there own until there third year. Do you think the coaching staff or Mike Holmgren will still be here then?
Why not Tannehill or Weeden? Well Tannehill comes from a simplistic offense where there are lots of hitch plays, not much reading downfield, and really a system of timing against a slow defense to keep the chains moving.
And no to Weeden because, just a few years back, didn't some kid from Mxchxcant get drafted by the Yankees, take the big signing bonus and totally suck ass in the minors to only then come to the Dallas Cowboys camp and suck ass there as well? (Answer)
Tom Heckert and the boys CAN NOT SCREW THIS UP. I want and need to believe that they have had a plan all along since they traded with the Atlanta Falcons around this time last year. To compile a certain number of additional higher tier picks and to position themselves at this time right now (not next year) and really start building this team to be a contender not just for this year, but for 6-8 yrs. If we cant get this accomplished, this team is basically going nowhere, like a dead guy, lying in an alley with ugly ass William Dafoe looking over top of you.
