Why I'm Rooting for the Saints

No its not because of the D-Cup to cheerleader ratio. No its not because that media whore Kim Kardashian is banging Reggie "I didn't accept money while at USC" Bush. No its not because I feel bad about the whole hurricane thing. However, being a Browns fan, I want to believe that Cleveland can turn things around as the Saints have in the span of just a few short years. Lets take a look...... 2005 record: 3-13 2006 record: 10-6, 1 playoff win. 2007 record: 7-9 2008 record: 8-8 2009 record:13-3, SuperBowl 44 appearance. Key Free Agent Signings Drew Brees Acquired UFA '06. Drew was a decent quarterback on a better than average team. He had a good coach, the leagues top running threat in LaDainian Tomlinson and some good young talent. But Drew had a subpar year and his season ended with a bum shoulder, a young, talented rookie in Philip Rivers, and Drew was due a good portion of next years salary cap. Drew then becomes a free agent. Darren Sharper Unrestricted Free A...

Josh Cribbs Our "Special" Teamer

Just added : Five things you didn't know about Josh Cribbs Well as most of us know, the NFL's version of the all star game (more like a laughable little league coaches game) was this past weekend. The Browns managed to have two players selected. The outdoors man LT Joe Thomas and some other guy named Josh , who's last named escapes me at this time. In the past I never watch the Pro Bowl, it is a joke and the players are there to just basically relax, have fun, and collect there $10k-$20k game checks. I did tune in to this game because nothing else was on at the time and in doing so I found something interesting. During the Browns season, I normally watch the game on CBS and at least half the time I watch the game on TV with the mute button on and then turn the radio on to listen to Jim Donovan give the play by play. Nothing beats a local commentator giving you the "RUN WILLIAM RUN" lines than hearing Ian Eagle and Steve Tasker give lame attempts to inspire th...

The Season That was 2009

I know some have you have given me the WTF. Well get over it. With the playoffs now starting today, us Brownie faithful now turn our attention to off season departures (or lack thereof, how the hell our Off Cord kept his job I will never know), Josh Cribbs contract dispute, free agency, and of course the draft in April (where we pick 7th). Questions on offense...... Although I wanted Brady Quinn to be the starter all season, the only flash of anything positive came against the Detroit Lions where the play calling was really aggressive and lets be honest, even Lurch (DA) could have scored at will against there porous defense. Alas Brady is not the answer. And DA could only make one other QB in the league look good..... JaMarcus Russell . But do we draft another Notre Dame player in the first round again? Jeff Faine and BQ obviously have not worked out. Jamal Lewis will retire, but Jerome Harrisons stock is on the rise. (man, saying that made me feel like Mel Kiper). And lets not for...

The Pooh Has Hit The Fan

Its been about a week since my last post. But its been very difficult to write about something that isn't worth writing about. So what I am going to do is simply post everything interesting I have been able to come across during the past few days. Oh, in case you didn't hear, the Browns let the door hit the ass of general manager George Kokinis on his way out. AFC North Stock Watch Adam Schefter talks about Cleveland getting rid of GM George Kokinis and what this means for Eric Mangini ( video ) The BROWN OUT Eric Barton going on I.R.? Mantarded's Master Plan ? The Browns should lose there Monday Night Football spot. Tedy Bruschi Defends Eric Mantarded. Browns Fans Say Owner Has Dogged Determination. Browns Owner " sick " about state of Browns, but won't fire Mantarded.

The Downward Spiral that is the Cleveland Browns.

Since I started this website/blog, I had all these ideas and things I was hoping would happen that I could write about. But alas there has been little good in the Year of our Lord 2009 Browns season. So today, as drove home from Cleveland Browns Stadium at seethed through a two hour ride home (an hour just to get out of the city), I have dissected that monstrosity of a game (if you even want to call it that, in fact I will refer to today's " game " as a scrimmage for the rest of this post). Even before today we can all say that this season had no real expectations attached to it. Most experts foresaw the Browns winning anywhere from 2-4 games this season. I am going to be totally honest. I would be completely happy if we lost the following 9 games left this season as long as we were competitive. Watching the Browns today was like watching that nerdy bunch of white guys in green jerseys that the Globe Trotters always kick the shit out of. What I am most upset about i...

Your 2009 Cleveland Browns

Of course with any Cleveland team there are going to be negatives. We currently sit about 1/3 of the way through this season, so lets take a look at the vast collection of negatives that have accumulated so far. Eric Mantarded was hired. We traded down in the draft and picked a center. The whole "who's gonna start at QB" debacle. Stallworthless. Lurch at starting QB for the foreseeable future. Sir Drops a Lot gets traded for another guy (Chansi Stuckey) who's hands seem to be related. The Cleveland Browns have dropped 16 passes the past two games. The trade deadline came with no movement. Our leading tackler is on the I.R. Brian Robiskie (our first 2nd rd pick) seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. Our most promising rookie (out of camp at least), James Davis, was put on the I.R. after some extra curricular activities. Our current 1-5 record. Our lone win of 6-3. Josh Cribbs not getting a new contract. People at ESPN talkin smack (thanks T.G.) Eric Wrig...

NFL Trade Deadline at 4pm Today.

With any of the 4 major sports, there are always rumors galour during the trade deadline. Along with an Indians team that fell well short of expectations. The Browns may also be in a selling mood. Names being mentioned have been Joshua Cribbs, Brady Quinn, Kameron Wimbley and Shaun Rodgers. Another name being mentioned as been former Buckeye Ted Ginn Jr of the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins may now have realized that they took him way to high in the draft just a few years ago. However if the Browns want a vertical threat at the right price, Ginn could be there man. If you recall rumors circulated earlier this year that the Dolphins and Browns were talking Braylon Edwards and Ronnie Brown. Maybe we can trade Wimbley for Bill Parcells instead? At this point I am still reluctant to give up Wimbley. Yes, he has fallen short of expectations from his standout rookie season, but on the other hand, he already has matched his sack totals from a year ago (4), and is on pace to beat his tota...
