Vikings Could Make or Break Browns Draft

With about 10 hours to go before the NFL draft, I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. I also feel like I could possibly take a trip up to Minnesota to kill anyone in the Vikings front office if they decide to trade there #3 overall pick, therefore blocking the Browns from drafting Bama RB Trent Richardson.

In this very possible scenario, Tampa Bay which covets Richardson could very well put a package together to move up the two spots, leapfrogging Cleveland, and picking him forcing the Browns to go with plan "B" (if in fact the Browns do plan on taking Richardson).

Minnesota is in a very plausible scenario where it seems that they will select USC OT Matt Kalil, However, they could also move down several positions, adding draft picks in a trade, and still get there guy. For a team like Minnesota who wouldn't mind adding draft picks this year. A trade could very well happen this evening.

The other scenario could be the possibility that the St Louis Rams could trade back up into the draft to select Trent Richardson. Rams RB is wanting a new contract, however at this stage in his career, RB's don't normally have a whole lot left in the tank. Rumors have circulated that the Rams could part with Steven Jackson and move up in the draft and select Trent Richardson.

If ether one of this plays out, I would expect the Browns to either draft WR Justin Blackmon or LSU CB Morris Claiborne. Claiborne may not be the sexy pick but, I think he may be the higher rated player between he and Blackmon.

So this evening could start the weekend with either a lot of great optimism or a lot of alcohol. I think if Minnesota keeps its pick at #3 the top half of round one could be pretty smooth.

My predictions:

Chris Berman will continue to be an overwhelming douche all evening.
Don't look for the Browns to trade down from #4.
Browns will draft a WR in round 1.

The Pooh Has Hit The Fan

Its been about a week since my last post. But its been very difficult to write about something that isn't worth writing about. So what I am going to do is simply post everything interesting I have been able to come across during the past few days. Oh, in case you didn't hear, the Browns let the door hit the ass of general manager George Kokinis on his way out. Shaun Rodgers and Some Insight on the Draft

A customer of mine told me once one of the greatest words to live by some years ago. “Never let your meat loaf.” Back when I heard this I only thought of it in a sexual context.   But after hearing of the release of DT Shaun Rodgers this past week I was able to apply this great piece of advice from a half senile old man in a different way. The 10 year veteran had played only sparingly over the past two seasons.   He ended the 2009 season on the I.R. (as so many others did as well).   This past season sometime during training camp, Rodgers became gimpy and turned into the Lance Armstrong of stationary bikes.   During the regular season Mr. Rodgers was lucky to play 20 snaps a game. 2009 stats: 11 games played, 11 game starts, 36 tackles (9 assisted) 2 sacks. 2010 stats: 15 games played, 1 game start, 17 tackles (3 assisted) 2 sacks. Shaun's salary in 2010 was $6.9 million, his base for 2011 was 5.5 million.  Really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure ...

Ok.....Just Hear Me Out on This One.

I have March Madness.  Except my version does not involve basketball.  Mine involves that time of the year where there is no football, no baseball, and my BlueJackets suck right now.  So my full attention is focused on the NFL draft. Everyone and there next door neighbor has there theory on who is doing what and has some source that heard this rumor from a note written on the bathroom wall of a truck stop in Lincoln, Nebraska. In the last several weeks we have the Cleveland Browns drafting in round one Eric Berry, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Joe Haden & God knows who else. However.....what if we chose to draft another offensive lineman? WTF?!?!? You say... Let me ask you this: How did we win the last 4 games of 2009?  RUNNING THE BALL . How sweet would our starting O-Line look with this blocking for Delhomme and Harrison: LT Joe Thomas   LG Eric Steinbach  C  Alex Mack  RG  TBD   RT  Tony Pasho...
