After three games the most talked about Browns '09 draft member Brian Robiskie has been, well lets say, no where to really be seen.
Whats the problem?
Really there is no problem, unless you count being a rookie a problem. Let's look at it this way, the Browns drafted two rookie wideouts in the 2nd round. It was silly of us to think that both Robiskie and Mohammad Massaquoi (3 catches 44 yds so far) would both be seeing much playing time there first year in the NFL outside of special teams.
But Doesn't Brian have a dad that coaches WR's in the NFL?
Yes, but no matter how much preparation and coaching a person may receive, only being out on the field can one really put that coaching into practice. With again another entire new regime coaching the Browns, and them weeding out the old players while installing the new, players may be doing things that normally wouldn't be done.
Other off season moves.
Don't forget that during this offseason we lost (if you wanna call it that) WR's Donte' Stallworth and Joe Jurevicius. So the organization went out and signed free agents David Patten (who's in his mid 30's and hasn't played a preseason game yet this year) and Mike Furrey who may end up being our poor mans version of Wes Welker. So we got that going for us, which is nice.
And remember:
This is a 16 game season, and any starter is always one play away from being put on the injured reserved list. Brian may not start the season lined up with the first team offense, but as he gains more reps and feels more comfortable with Mangini's system we very well could see him lined up along side Braylon Edwards before seasons end.
