Browns News, Notes, and Shenanigans

As if getting beat down by a mediocre (at best) defense last week in Denver, we have the luxury of going up against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

To add another kick to the groin we also have the following to deal with (because 1 thing a week just wouldn't seem right):

Jamal Lewis will most likely be riding the pine on Sunday with a pulled hamstring. So we will be relying on Jerome Harrison and rookie James Davis who is just a week removed from a car accident and a shoulder injury from the Denver game. Or will we be opening the passing floodgates this week led by Brady Quinn? (read more)

Now the real head shaker.

Rookie and training camp standout Coye Francies was the focal point of some rookie hazing earlier in the week. (read more) If what is stated is correct I am a little shocked at Francies's blow out. After seeing him several times being interviewed he is always the most pleasant and well mannered person that I have seen in some time.

The Pooh Has Hit The Fan

Its been about a week since my last post. But its been very difficult to write about something that isn't worth writing about. So what I am going to do is simply post everything interesting I have been able to come across during the past few days. Shaun Rodgers and Some Insight on the Draft

A customer of mine told me once one of the greatest words to live by some years ago. “Never let your meat loaf.” Back when I heard this I only thought of it in a sexual context.   But after hearing of the release of DT Shaun Rodgers this past week I was able to apply this great piece of advice from a half senile old man in a different way. The 10 year veteran had played only sparingly over the past two seasons.   He ended the 2009 season on the I.R. (as so many others did as well).   This past season sometime during training camp, Rodgers became gimpy and turned into the Lance Armstrong of stationary bikes.   During the regular season Mr. Rodgers was lucky to play 20 snaps a game. 2009 stats: 11 games played, 11 game starts, 36 tackles (9 assisted) 2 sacks. 2010 stats: 15 games played, 1 game start, 17 tackles (3 assisted) 2 sacks. Shaun's salary in 2010 was $6.9 million, his base for 2011 was 5.5 million.  Really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure ...

Ok.....Just Hear Me Out on This One.

I have March Madness.  Except my version does not involve basketball.  Mine involves that time of the year where there is no football, no baseball, and my BlueJackets suck right now.  So my full attention is focused on the NFL draft. Everyone and there next door neighbor has there theory on who is doing what and has some source that heard this rumor from a note written on the bathroom wall of a truck stop in Lincoln, Nebraska. In the last several weeks we have the Cleveland Browns drafting in round one Eric Berry, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Joe Haden & God knows who else. However.....what if we chose to draft another offensive lineman? WTF?!?!? You say... Let me ask you this: How did we win the last 4 games of 2009?  RUNNING THE BALL . How sweet would our starting O-Line look with this blocking for Delhomme and Harrison: LT Joe Thomas   LG Eric Steinbach  C  Alex Mack  RG  TBD   RT  Tony Pasho...
